Styles of dance

At our Livermore and Tracy dance studio locations, we teach various styles of dancing for all ages. For more detailed information regarding a style of dance, please contact the studio and we will be happy to give you more details. Also note that we serve Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon and other nearby citites!

  • BALLET The foundation of all dance styles. Builds strength, grace, discipline and correct body placement. A slow and steady progressive study is emphasized.
  • POINTE After proper training and physical development are satisfactory, the more advanced female students will study pointe.
  • JAZZ Stylized and technical form of dance, students of Jazz fare best with a background in Ballet to provide basic discipline and a firm foundation in the principles of Jazz movement..
  • HIP HOP Structured form of street dance often found in music videos. It is designed to teach coordination, strength, quickness, agility and endurance. A form of street dance also known as funk. Fun to learn and an excellent aerobic workout.
  • LYRICAL Combination of ballet and jazz technique. It is more expressive in nature, relating to the spirit, nature, joy, and freedom of the individual dancer.
  • MODERN Contemporary form of dance that educates the student in terms of moving through space dynamically. Modern dance requires a ballet foundation.
  • TAP A fun form of dance for both children and adults. Teaches increasingly challenging combinations of steps that develops rhythm, musicality and coordination.
  • CLOGGING Clogging in an authentic and distinctive form of American folk dance, which has roots that reach back to our Scots-Irish and European heritage. Essential characteristics of this dance style are loud, fast footwork, usually with steel plates on the shoes, a fairly rigid torso, and the up and down motion of the knees.
  • MUSICAL THEATRE A character style of dance that utilizes music of the Broadway stage. Dancers will learn and study Broadway-style choreography, presentation through song and dance, and even some audition tips.
  • PILATES is a body conditioning routine that seeks to build flexibility, strength, endurance, and coordination without adding muscle bulk. In addition, pilates increases circulation and helps to sculpt the body and strengthen the body's "core" or "powerhouse" (torso). We offer mat exercises, which require only a floor mat and training. These exercises are designed so that your body uses its own weight as resistance.
  • TURNS, KICKS & LEAPS Focuses on and develops an extensive variety of turns, extension jumps, flexibility and strength for serious dancers. There is no dance combination choreographed for performances.
  • CREATIVE MOVEMENT Geared to the development of imagination, motor skills, rhythm, coordination, body awareness, and the ability to relate to music. It will Includes an introduction to Ballet, Tap, Jazz and tumbling emphasizing development of creativity through the joy of dance.
  • BELLY DANCING Over the decades, "Middle Eastern" dance in the United States isn't always "Middle Eastern" any more, and the term "belly dance" has gained popularity as a way of describing our modern implementation in our country of this beautiful dance inspired by the East.
